Hyatt Credit Card – Earn Extra Points for Everyday Purchases

There’s a new promotion being offered on the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card to encourage cardmembers to make a lot of purchases with the card.

Dates of purchases: February 1 through February 28, 2021

Maximum Bonus Points: 5,000 

Minimum Purchase: $1 or more

Amount of Bonus Points: 

• 10 transactions = 1,000 Bonus Points
• 25 transactions = 2,5000 Bonus Points
• 50+ transactions = 5,000 Bonus Points

Registration Link: Cardmembers may register for the offer between January 28 and February 28, 2021.

Qualifying Purchase: Any qualifying card purchase made between February 1 and February 28, 2021, will count as an eligible transaction as long as cardmembers register for the offer by February 28, 2021.

Eligible Transaction: an eligible transaction includes card payment made with Swipe, Contactless, Tap and Pay, Apple Pay, Digital Wallet, reoccurring transactions, and more.

Posting of Bonus Points:  6 to 8 weeks after the last day of the promotional period

Excluded purchases: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee.

Note: former Hyatt Credit Card members can continue to use their card for this promotion while waiting for their new World of Hyatt Card to arrive.

My thoughts: I think Hyatt wants us to get used to using the credit card for everyday purchases rather than just for hotel charges. This promotion is a lot of work for 5,000 points, but maybe it’ll be fun. I foresee a lot of people buying 50 pieces of bubble gum or the equivalent.
