In case you haven’t heard, there will be free Boingo wi-fi this summer (June 25- September 7) at select NYC subway stations and throughout NYC at Boingo hotspots!
The Boingo Announcement states:
New Yorkers! Starting today, you can connect to Boingo for free at participating subway stations and around town, courtesy of our friends at Google Offers. Just connect to “Boingo Free WiFi” below ground or “Boingo Hotspot” above ground on your laptop or mobile device and you’re all set.
The subway stations all are below 23rd Street and on the West Side – which doesn’t make this Upper East Side girl ecstatic, but still its a big start! The stations are:
- A, C, E station at Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street
- L station at Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street
- C, E station at Eighth Avenue and West 23rd Street
- 1, 2, 3 station at Seventh Avenue and West 14th Street
- F, M station at Sixth Avenue and West 14th Street
- L station at Sixth Avenue and West 14th Street
The Boingo Announcement also indicates that the free wi-fi campaign this summer in NYC is broader than just the subways, but also extends to Boingo Hotspots. Here’s the info:
You can also enjoy Wi-Fi while soaking up the warm weather in Manhattan at more than 200 Boingo hotzones citywide. The included coverage area is pretty broad, so just check the available networks on your device, and chances are likely that you’ll see “Boingo Hotspot” pop up. When you get connected, send us a tweet and let us know where you are! Bonus points for photos.
Furthermore – the Boingo Announcement indicates that “tweeters like us” can win prices when we tweet using the hashtag #FreeNYCWiFi:
…when you tweet about connecting to free Boingo Wi-Fi in New York, you’ll be entered to receive rewards from Boingo. Just be sure to include “#FreeNYCWiFi” in your tweet. The more you tweet, the better your chances of scoring rewards!
All in all, I like it. I like free wi-fi. I like Boingo – in fact, since I travel frequently, I have a Boingo account – I find it valuable especially at airports.
If only Boingo were in Maya Riviera, Mexico, where I’ll be vacationing for a week this summer. I heard that the wi-fi there is spotty and expensive. Please help me Boingo!!!
