Japan Airlines (JAL) has two lounges at Narita International Airport Terminal 2, the JAL First Class Lounge and the Sakura Business Class Lounge.
I was flying on JAL Business Class to Jakarta, Indonesia with a two hour stop at Narita. Based on my One World Emerald status I had entry to the First Class Lounge (both on my way to Jakarta and on my way home).
The JAL First Class Lounge is extremely subdued, yet elegant. At first I thought maybe I would like the fanfare of the Sakura Lounge better, but after taking a walk through, I quickly returned to the First Class Lounge. I decided that I could get used to this lifestyle.
There are many areas of the lounge. Some are for seating and relaxing, and others are for dining. There is an open bar, where guests can pour their own drinks from bottles, or wine from a machine.
Due to pandemic restrictions, all food was ordered via a menu on an iPad. At first, we just ordered a few items to sample, but then, especially by the return visit, we’d order nearly everything on the menu. Of course we loved the sushi, prepared by sushi chefs, but we were a little disappointed that there was only a very limited choice of sushi items on the menu – salmon, amberjack and egg custard. Still it was good. Very good. Other food selections included breads from Maison Kayser, soup from Soup Stock Tokyo and JAL’s popular Beef Curry.

I laughed at the bathroom facilities. There’s enough reading materials on the wall to keep you busy a long time!
The lounge has shower facilities. On our return visit, on our way home, I used the facilities to shower and freshen up. It was very clean and much appreciated.
I will be flying on JAL again in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to visiting the First Class Lounge again!
