Loyalty Traveler covered a new development at Starwood Preferred Guest program (the loyalty program for hotels such as Sheraton, Westin, and W), where SPG members can earn elite night and stay credit for up to 3 rooms per hotel stay when booked under the SPG member’s name and all rooms are paid by the SPG member and the SPG member is one of the guests.  This is great for frequent travelers to obtain elite status, especially when traveling with family or groups.
