On our recent trip to Hawaii, at both Detroit Airport and LAX, Won’t Run and I had time to spare and stopped in at Delta Sky Clubs.
I have two words. Chicken Salad. Chicken Salad!! (It’s so good I had to say it twice).
Chicken Salad With Cranberry and Pecan is part of Delta’s new menu and it’s so delicious, it’s like crack in a bowl or on a cracker or plate. Won’t Run filled his plate a few times (and then a few more times). I was gaining new confidence in the Delta Sky Club as I took a second helping, and yet I feared that my kvelling would cease if I knew the nutritional information. My fear was realized when I searched around and found this:
Yowza, 100 grams is a serving? To most it’s a single mouthful or even a mere morsel! How many servings does one typically have? 3? 4? At 290 calories and 22 grams of fat per serving, I’m guessing that we’re talking about nearly 1,000 calories? And there are a lot of ingredients listed that I can’t spell or pronounce – which usually translates to preservatives.
I think I’ll greatly reduce my chicken salad consumption in the future! I should note that there are a number of other new items on the Delta menu that are likely more healthy with less calories and fat (though probably high in sodium, as many soups are). Both of the soups I’ve tried from the new menu, an Italian Wedding Soup and a Tomato Soup, were quite good.
Have you tried the Chicken Salad? What do you think?
DeltaPoints sent me this fabulous photo!

Do you happen to have the recipe for this?

Lauren, according to this it is “shaw’s” – perhaps the supermarket? http://www.delta.com/content/dam/delta-www/pdfs/sky-club/nutrition-2014/PecanCranberryChickenSalad.pdf
