I attended a techie meetup last night at Libation in New York City. Five developers of new techie travel inventions were there showcasing their latest and greatest. There were a few items that caught my eye. Hitlist was one of them.
HITLIST is a new app available for free for both Android on Google Play and for iPhone on iTunes. It is created by TripCommon LLC and marketed as an app for Cheap Flights, Travel Deals and Airline Tickets.
The iTunes page says:
Build a list of places you’d like to visit and we’ll let you know when there are cheap flights to get there.
We send you the best deals, tailor made just for you and your interests. We scan millions of fares and bring you the best itineraries to help you know the optimal time to travel.”
The representative explained that you can set up alerts so you will be informed of best prices for a desired trip, or even information of the city and place you are going. There is also a social aspect to the app, so you can see where your friends are also going. While none of this is distinctly new, the website claims to have added a modern and better twist to what’s currently out there.
I did not personally upload this app – my iPhone 4S is filled to capacity and I’m waiting for my iPhone6 – but the representative did a demonstration and the interface appears to be vibrant and user friendly. The reviews on the App Store are positive. So, for me, this is something worth checking out further (although I have reservations about the social media feature of the app).
Giveaway
Hitlist was giving out some nifty commemerative logo bottle openers. They actually look like pins and that’s what I thought they were at first. Very cool little contraptions! The rep gave me four of these to give away here.
To win, please leave a comment on this post as to what is an important feature(s) for you on a travel app.
In addition, please follow on Twitter and create a tweet about this giveaway, including a link to this post.
If you really love me, you’ll like the Facebook page too, though that’s not a requirement for this giveaway.
Winners will be randomly selected Thursday October 2, 2014.
YOU SUPPLY THE BOTTLE, WE’LL SUPPLY THE OPENER.

Love those plane openers! My dad who worked for TWA for 44 years would have too! For me, travel apps must be user friendly and accurate. Thanks for the tip on Hitlist. I’ll give it a spin!
