Starbucks: Pre-Order and Pay Right from iPhone App

MOBILE ORDER AND PAY COMES TO OREGON!

Hey, Portland, Oregon, did you know you are a beta test market for a new feature where you can choose your order and pay right from your iPhone before you even arrive at your Starbucks store, and then simply pick up your order when you arrive?

I was looking at the updates for the apps on my iPhone and noticed this on the update for the Starbucks app:

Now customers in the Portland area can order Starbucks favorites from within the app and your order will be ready at your favorite Starbucks store.

Fully customize your drinks right from the app.

This feature is beta testing in the Portland area. Keep your eyes peeled as we roll out more cities.

It really makes sense that Starbucks would add this feature.  They had the first app to my knowledge where you could store your Starbucks card on your smartphone and pay for an order directly from the app.  I wonder how this works and whether it will speed up the generally famously slow order process?

There are also new menu and nutrition updates on the app.
