This is a review of the Fitness Center at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia. This is the second post in a series of three posts, the first post was a review of my stay there.
I was only at the Hotel Monaco for a short (but glorious) stay, and if the choice was to skip the afternoon wine hour or skip a workout, I’m sorry to say the workout had to be sacrificed. I have my priorities!
Nevertheless, I did visit the gym. It is large and clean and welcoming. It has floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of mirrors and a nice view (I find windowless gyms to be very claustrophobic and a big turn-off). The fitness center has plenty of equipment, all state of the art and in excellent condition. It even has fitness balls and those balance thingees you step on and try not to fall off of.

Nice view:
Towels, Newspapers, headphones, a bowl of fruit (a nice touch!) and a water cooler with pointy cups!

We are big fans of the fruit bowl. For some reason, munching a crisp apple at the gym when away from home makes it taste better. We eat a lot of apples on the road…We also always pack our high fiber cereal and a few good bars. Kimpton has stepped up to the athletic-minded traveler plate with many of its gyms and offerings…including the wine happy hour!
