So, I was just researching a possible stay at a new Category 1 Hyatt Place hotel in Asheville, NC scheduled to open next year. I entered the dates July 2 to July 4th. The Daily rate of $379 seemed a bit steep, so I decided to see what options there were for points or points & cash.
Since the hotel is a category 1, it should be 5,000 points or 2,500 points plus $50. Instead an award stay is listed as 2,147,483,647 points, and a points & cash award stay is listed as 2,147,483,647 points plus $50 USD!
All I can say is this better be a really nice Hyatt Place!
I ran the numbers, and the points-only deal is better than the points + cash deal.
Let me guess? by about $50? ha ha.
The guy from HKG can use his freshly-minted 2 billion points….
It’s an 32 bit integer overflow.
2^31
