Years ago, when I was running a lot of marathons (like 10 or 15 per year), one of my favorite pastimes was going to expos. I loved shopping and schmoozing and checking out new races and products.
I was one of the first on the block to buy a SPIbelt (SPI is an acronym for Small Personal Item). These nifty belts first caught my eye at some expo and I bought one. The material was a simple tech stretch, but I loved it. It was pre-smartphone days and my tiny Motorola StarTAC (does anyone remember those?) fit neatly in the pouch along with a key and a dollar or two, and I was good to go. Such a small item had big uses!
Over the years, the SPIbelts matured – there are many more products and styles. The material of the pouch and the belt evolved and got sturdier, but still pliable. I use a SPIbelt regularly for running. If I go to the gym, I put my essentials in a SPIbelt rather than bringing a wallet or purse. I also bring SPIbelts traveling, as a great way to keep some of my money, credit cards and/or keys safely on my person, rather than in a purse.
So how fitting was it that one day I was contacted by a rep informing me of a new Performance Series line of utility belts from SPIbelt, and offering me a sample?
It guards against sweat and the elements, with the added convenience of a larger pocket size and gel loops. Perfect for the long-distance runner, adventure racer, or endurance athlete, this running belt offers streamlined functionality, with an added weather-resistant zipper and picket to help keep essentials safe from the elements. The belts will also expand to hold any smart phone, keys, cash, credit cards, and even a passport, making it ideal for fitness, travel, medical needs, etc.

I would wear the black belt while having a shake with ice cubes in it for breakfast, even if it was raining outside. And I would feel pretty good about it.

The black would be perfect for travel which is when I would us it most often.

Black on black. I like the new performance belts. Would like one so I could get the water bottles. Used my older spi belt yesterday for a half marathon and could have used a water bottle.
