Ever since the Párisi Udvar Hotel joined the World of Hyatt brand, I’ve wanted to go to Budapest and stay there. In fact, I had reservations at this hotel countless times. It was originally a category 2 World of Hyatt hotel (8,000 points per night), but it was quickly realized that the hotel deserved a higher category, and it was adjusted to a category 5 hotel (20,000 points per night).
I made my reservations back when the hotel was a category 2, but I had to keep postponing the reservations due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, the hotel graciously agreed to honor the initial award price (Thanks especially to the two Eszters). That’s how courteous and hospitable the hotel staff always was.
The Párisi Udvar hotel has all the grandeur and old world charm you might expect from an iconic hotel property in the heart of Budapest. The hotel website describes it like this:
Travel back in time, through the passage of a Paris courtyard. The Párisi Udvar revives the Art Nouveau shopping arcade into a palatial hotel where you will experience the spectacle of an architectural gem, an ideal location in the core of the city, as well as enchanted visions of the past, present and future.
I had the good fortune of visiting Budapest and staying at the Párisi Udvar Hotel, not once, but twice, in recent months: first in October, 2021 and then again in January 2022. The first floor is where the lobby and front desk are, as well as the hotel restaurant, the Párisi Passage Café.
This was our room on both visits, called a Heritage Collection Suite. A little pet peeve of mine – I’d prefer that large rooms be called rooms rather than suites by hotels. Nevertheless, the suite room was wonderful.
The bathroom was incredible!
The view:
The hotel has all kinds of nooks and crannies, wherever you may look or wander.
The area below, not currently in use, was once the hotel lounge.
We had breakfast each morning at the hotel restaurant.
We also had dinner once or twice at the hotel restaurant.
The hotel has a small fitness center. Honestly, it didn’t really appeal to me. I preferred to take long walks along the Danube!
There’s not much not to love in Budapest and our hotel stay contributed to our newly discovered passion for the city and it’s people.
