Sometimes I miss deadlines or promotions and then I want to shoot myself. Well, this morning I was sorting through old emails and came across an email dated January 12th from Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. I am pretty sure that I was in the middle of my “Around the World in 8 Days Trip” at that time.
The email said it was a gift to me, in appreciation for being an MVP Gold 75K member. I was offered a choice of either Gogo wifi passes or 2 lounge passes or 2 cabin upgrades.
How nice is that? Except today is May 7th, and the terms and conditions said the offer expires March 30, 2015.

I clicked on the promo link anyway, and predictably it said the promotion had expired. Then, on a lark, I phoned Alaska Air! I asked if there was a way to activate the offer notwithstanding the belated date.
Here’s the question? What would the response have been from any other domestic airline? Would United have said Yes, we’ll honor it? How about Delta? Or even American?
But this is truly amazing. The Alaska Air customer service representative happily activated the promotion and my record now reflects two complimentary cabin upgrades.
Now that’s what I call customer service! Thank you so much Alaska Airlines! YOU ROCK!

Alaska is the best airline because they always take care of their elites. Every time I call Alaska, the representative will start out the conversation by thanking me for being a Gold member.

This is exactly why #iFlyAlaska 🙂
The airline has some of the best GAs and FAs in the business, they are consistent and reliable, and they really do understand their customer base.
Kudos to AS!

Every time I call Alaska Airlines I speak with a company employee located somewhere in the Pacific NW. When I call the now “big three” airlines more often than not I speak to an Asia based call center “representative” (who is not necessarily an airline employee just a call center employee) where even a supervisor frequently doesn’t understand the nuances of intricate airline booking details.
