In A Gift From Alaska Airlines, I reported that a telephone customer service representative at Alaska Airlines agreed to honor a promotion even though I had missed the expiration date. After picking myself up from the floor, I mused that no other airline would have been as helpful as Alaska Airlines had been.
Some interesting things happened after I posted that article. First, there were comments on that post as well as on my Twitter and Facebook accounts from other extremely satisfied Alaska Airlines’ customers. Second, Alaska Airlines itself, both on Twitter and Facebook, responded to the post with joy and pride for it’s customer service.
And then, I received a message via the Will Run For Miles Facebook page from Marianne Lindsey of Alaska Airlines Corporate Communications. She said that she loved reading my story and that she was wondering if I would give her my full name so Alaska Airlines could identify the telephone representative who helped me and give her recognition. I did so without hesitation.
Well, Alaska Airlines found my angel and her name is Kathy Evans!
What followed is this amazing article in Alaska Airline’s internal employee website, AlaskaWorld, entitled I am Alaska: Customer care ‘rocks it’ for blogging elite flier! Check this out:

A different airline would have tracked her down to terminate her.

What a heart-warming story about two wonderful Kathies!
One of the things I like about living in the Pacific Northwest is that so often I get to fly on Alaska, most recently just this past Thursday. I am excited for the newly announced nonstop PDX-Austin TX flight too.
I love how AS supports local communities and knows what is happening in each. We recently attended the Portland Rose Festival’s Starlight Parade and cheered the Alaska employees who marched in the parade, complete with a drill team and huge airplane balloon brought smiles to the faces of children of all ages.
To the Kathies and Alaska Airlines, Keep up the good work!!

Hi Kathy,
I remember when you posted this as I responded on how well Alaska treats their elite customers. I almost fell out of my chair when I read you post today where Alaska included my response on their internal, employee website piece by Marianne Lindsey. Alaska employees should know that they are the best and beat the other airlines customer service hands down and their elites certainly appreciate it.

Isn’t that awesome Steve? It’s like the company is human! Now that’s something new in customer service – as a fellow human, I love it!
