One of my favorite ways to learn about a place I’m visiting is to go for a run there! For those who’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll remember that I post jogging maps from time to time. I’m trying to do this more often.
This jogging map, created by the athletic-minded traveler, is from the Grand Hyatt in Playa del Carmen Resort in Mexico (see, HOTEL REVIEW).
What I loved about this hotel was that you can choose stay within the confines of the secluded paradise of the resort or you could walk out the door and be smack in the middle of Playa del Carmen.
I also really enjoyed running in Playa.
Essentially, if you turned left, you were in the commercial area. Running here was okay if early in the morning, but not after the hustle and bustle began.
If you turned right, you were on authentic local streets, free of tourism.
In this direction, there was a lot of street art too!
(see, Street Art (Part 1) – Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and Street Art (Part 2) and Palapas – Playa Del Carmen, Mexico)
I’m headed to Mexico City in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to running there!
