Wednesday morning, I received a text from Michelle, who writes Miles, Points and Mai Tais, telling me that the Starbucks App for Runtastic Pro was free this week at Starbucks. So, when I went out to run that morning, I stopped by two Starbucks, looking for these “Pick of the Week” cards. Alas, I saw only cards for Wild Sky, some sort of game.
Little did I know, Starbucks has two Picks of the Week. The one in the store, with the actual cards, and a second one, which is digital, and you get right from the Starbucks App on your smartphone. Dohhh.
So, I checked, and voila, Runtastic Pro, normally $4.95, is indeed Starbuck’s digital Pick of the Week. This app is a GPS-based app, with a social media aspect.
Here are the details of the Runtastic Pro app:

My problem is always I do NOT want to run with my iPhone. I tried the arm band and hated it. In hand scares me that I’ll drop it or trip and land on it.
I’m hoping the next gen iShuffle with have full GPS? Maybe the watch will still rule for a bit longer.

I was a holdout – didn’t get a cell phone until after 9-11. After that, I decided I should always have the iphone with me, for safety and security. Next time, I’d definitely get a phone with more space on it. My 4S is 16GBs, and I’m running (pun) right to the limit of my space. What I’d really like to try is Google Glass – so I can take photos while running, without having to take the phone out and focus. I think that would be so awesome.

I always run with mine but I run with it in a SPIbelt – no bounce, and you really can’t tell the belt is on you. It also has room for credit cards/cash.
