Visiting Fairmont Le Château Montebello, Quebec, Canada – the largest log cabin in the world – was like a dream of being a princess or a prince in a far away land.

The hotel also has a humongous indoor pool as well as a spa.
The fitness center adjoins the pool. The main room is very impressive. It has a lot of equipment – both cardio and weights. It is well organized and the equipment is plentiful and in good condition. The area is clean and there are many mirrors on the walls.
But wait. There’s a little L-shaped area to the room where everything is cluttered together. There’s a bunch of spin cycles and elliptical machines all scrunched together. With the main room so spacious and well organized, I don’t understand why this area is as it is. I’m hoping it is just temporary and that the hotel redistributes these machines.
There are also indoor squash and tennis courts.
This is just the tip of the iceberg as the hotel has a plethora of outdoor facilities and activities – for summer and winter – adults and children. There are trails around the hotel for walking, running or cycling. For the warmer months, there’s golf, an outdoor pool, water sports and stand up paddle board as well as outdoor tennis, miniature golf and so much more. You name it, they’ve got it!
You could even have a Land Rover Experience through a nature reserve!
Or you could just kick back on the Adirondack Chairs and gaze out across the Ottawa River. It’s all good!
