Did you ever have one of those times where you didn’t have any particular expectations of a hotel, and then . . . you loved it?
I recently visited Hyatt Centric Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is a category 4 World of Hyatt hotel, which I think is a good affordable luxury deal for this hotel. I had three free-night certificates, and there was a promotion for stays at Florida properties, so this seemed like a win-win situation. It was.
The hotel’s ambiance is sophisticated, but friendly and warm. I mean honestly, how can you not love a hotel that has a vending machine for champagne and a speakeasy tucked away in a hotel room? Plus, the area around the hotel – Las Olas – and the riverwalk behind the hotel – are all really nice.
The lobby is modern and spacious. Check in was easy.
The hotel restaurant, The Harborwood Urban Kitchen & Bar, is also located on the lobby level. At check in we were given a coupon for two drinks here. This was also where breakfast was served each morning (complimentary for Globalist members).
Since I was using certificates for the stay, I was unable to apply a suite upgrade award, but was pleasantly surprised to learn that we had in fact been upgraded to the Centric Suite!
Here is a short video I made of the suite. I forgot to include the balcony in the video, but there are more photos below.
The living room:
Delicious macaroons and wine!
The bedroom.
The master bathroom. Everything was spotless!
It is always appreciated when a suite has a second bathroom!
The balcony.
Breakfast at the Harborwood was very good – we even had steak and eggs! My only suggestion, which I communicated to the hotel manager, was that the menu could use some side salads or vegetable options.
We also had dinner at the Harborwood one night. On Monday’s there’s a great burger & beer special.
The fitness center was clean and well equipped. I was happy to see two Peloton bikes, but was unhappy that they needed repair. I communicated this to the hotel as well and was informed that this would be addressed quickly.
The hotel pool is on the third floor. I liked the accent of the painted mural.
I didn’t get a chance to visit the hotel speakeasy bar as it was closed on Monday night, the night I wanted to go there. So now I have another good reason to return!!!
I have always liked going to Las Olas and eating at Mark Militello’s restaurant on
Las Olas Blvd !!
I don’t know it, but I just googled it and it is closed.
Will be staying here before my Cruise for our Honeymoon! In Jan! Thank you for the review! Globalist Benefits are always a plus!
Used my free night award there. I live right around the corner so just popped in for the heck of it. We very much enjoyed our stay and you pretty much nailed the review.
thanks!
