Traveling to Aruba? Answering Your Questions from One to Ten
After a glorious four nights at the Hyatt Regency Aruba, it was almost time to go home. We decided to spend the last night of our stay at the Hyatt Place Aruba Airport. The hotel was a category 1 Hyatt hotel when I booked it. It is now a category 2 hotel.
Staying at an airport hotel at the end of a trip works in a number of ways. It keeps the departure stress down and helps one wind down before heading home (or to the next location). It also defrays the cost of staying at an expensive hotel an extra night only to be packing up and leaving after breakfast. Thus, it serves my motto of affordable luxury. Plus, I’d heard good things about the Hyatt Place.
The Hyatt Place Aruba Airport is literally a hop, skip and a jump from the airport. While this is definitely a positive, it is also a downside in that there’s really no place to go from the hotel unless you have a car or take a taxi. (The hotel does offer shuttle service to various nearby locations and beaches, but only during day hours).
Overall, the hotel has a new, clean, crisp feel to it. We walked in the entrance and took an elevator to the lobby level. This is a very large area, which includes the front desk, the bar and restaurant (and breakfast area). The outdoor pool and the gym are also located on this floor. Our check-in was handled expeditiously.
Our room, a Specialty King Bed Room with a sofabed, was large and comfortable. (note: I don’t know why some of the pictures came out so yellow). I liked the TV that could swivel to either side. The room had everything we needed, including a sofa area, a dresser, a desk, a refrigerator, a coffee machine, etc.
The hotel also gave us a nice plate of fresh fruit.
This isn’t your traditional airport hotel view. I liked looking out the window and seeing the homes in the area.
The bathroom was modern and clean.
We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, which is basically the same area as the hotel bar and the hotel breakfast area. The food was fine. We happened to have one last bottle of wine with us and asked if we could have it with our dinner. Since the hotel served alcohol, I was prepared for an answer of NO, but our server graciously said SURE. That’s how nice people are in Aruba.
Breakfast the next morning was ten notches better than what one might expect of a typical Hyatt Place hotel. The selection was varied and the food was very good. We leisurely enjoyed our breakfast.
Before packing up and heading over to the airport, we sat by the pool for a while. It’s a really nice pool.
The fitness center is also very clean and spacious with plenty of new equipment.
My stay at the Hyatt Place Aruba Airport was very positive. I recommend it.

It is my birthday and I can’t believe the Hyatt Place Aruba Airport does not have a better required service. I’ve been here 4 days so far with no hot water for 3 days. Although they are polite at the reception desk, no one tells you what is going on. Today I physically went to the reception desk and asked for a washcloth and was told someone will bring it right up. I waited a half an hour. I called, no one answered the phone. I went down again, asked for the manager and she told me the same thing. I waited at the reception desk for the washcloth so there would be no repetition. After telling her what I’ve been through and asked about what they can do for me, the manager then checks the computer and says that she sees in the system that I already received a voucher last night. That was it. It is unbelievable that they did not go beyond this. I am a very unsatisfied. Oh! Did I mention that today is my birthday?

Happy Birthday! That doesn’t sound good about the hot water. I did notice mention of it on the hotel website. I guess you need to speak to management about the problem.
