A few months ago, I wrote that Hyatt was opening a hotel at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) (see, Coming Soon: Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport). Actually it was a rebranding of a Novotel hotel scheduled to take effect February 1, 2025. I was particularly excited about this development, because I knew I was going to be in Thailand in February and planning to fly out of BKK airport that month on my way to Bali. The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel did open as planned and I stayed there for one night.

Some of the reasons to be excited about this hotel include:
- It is a category 2 World of Hyatt hotel
- It is accessible by public transportation
- you can walk from the hotel to the airport via a tunnel or you can take a complimentary shuttle
- the hotel has a revolving 24 hour stay
- the hotel has a nice outdoor pool
- the hotel has a Regency Club
As stated on the website:
Although the hotel is easily accessible by public transportation, I traveled by Grab (similar to Uber) from my hotel in Bangkok to BKK. Since the rebrand was so recent, it helped to tell the driver that I was going to the Novotel hotel rather than the Hyatt Regency.
The hotel is large – over 600 rooms! Upon arrival, I was immediately escorted to the Regency Club for check in and was greeted with enthusiasm and open arms. The staff is so excited to be part of Hyatt and very eager to please and do everything right.
I was upgraded to a Junior Suite – a large L-shaped room on the third floor. Everything was clean and there was plenty of space. The room was well decorated and equipped with a desk, a couch and table, a coffee machine, refrigerator and a closet with robes and a safe.
There was a small snafu on my part. I had informed the hotel in advance that the trip was to celebrate my partner’s upcoming birthday (it really was). The hotel really went all out to decorate the room for his birthday – except at the last minute his plans had changed and I was at the hotel alone (he wasn’t going to meet me until I after I arrived in Bali). I felt so bad that the staff had gone so out of their way – but this does show how nice and caring they are!

In addition, shortly after arriving, the hotel delivered this lovely tray of fruit and canapes to my room.
The bathroom has plenty of space and a separate bath and shower.
The Regency Club is large with plenty of seating. Like other Hyatt Regency Clubs, appetizers and cocktails are served in the evening, and breakfast is served in the morning. The Regency Club is very nice, but it is impossible to compare the food and beverages to that of other Hyatt Regency or Grand Hyatt hotels in Asia. It is more comparable to that offered at Hyatt Regency hotels in North America. Having said that, it is always nice when a hotel has a lounge and this is no exception!

I forgot to take a photo of the wines, but it was my impression that the wines here were actually better than the wines offered at the other Hyatt Regency hotels I’d stayed at in Thailand.
Here are some photos of the breakfast at the Regency Club.
The hotel has quite a few restaurants, but I didn’t go to any of them. This was a sports bar.
The hotel has a spa and a gym. I only walked through the gym, but it is quite large and almost cavernous. There is a lot of equipment and it all looks to be in good condition. A modernization might entail rearranging the space into separate areas, adding more lighting, and removing the carpet.
The hotel has an outdoor pool – it looks great! If I had more time, I might have gone swimming. Certainly, families traveling with children would find this pool to be a valuable benefit.
In summary, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel is a great addition to the Hyatt portfolio offering convenience for travelers passing through BKK airport. The staff’s enthusiasm and hospitality shine through, providing a warm welcome and attentive service that enhances the guest experience. Whether you consider it a good thing or a bad thing, the hotel doesn’t feel or look like a Hyatt yet. The rooms, though clean, definitely have a dated feel to them and would benefit from some renovations. The hotel says that many renovations are being planned.
