I’m not sure what’s going on, but a few times recently I’ve been on the Hyatt website searching for a hotel at the Government or AAA rate, and when I clicked on the
Note, the Rate Rule details:
Here is the search I did at the Hyatt House Raleigh Durham Airport using the Government Rate. Once again, note the Rate Rule details:
There is nothing in the rate rules which would lead one to think that this promotional free night is tied to the annual free night one receives from the Hyatt Chase Credit Card.
So, what do you think? Legit or a glitch?
Dale R says
Does the free night show up when you are logged out?
Tom says
I figured it was my free chase night but didn’t investigate too much. Otherwise I assume it’s a glitch.
Charlie says
It is a glitch. It will show applicable even for Category 7 properties but when you try to use it on any property, it gives an error and says you need to call in. Too bad, though! 🙂
Will Run For Miles says
it works at some hotels and gives details about the special rate – aaa, aarp, or gov, for example – in the rate rules.
Charlie says
It actually did let you book?! I can’t get that far.
Cindy says
I had this pop up, too. But I think you have to surrender a free night certificate when you check in to get it. That’s what I saw when I poked around the fine print anyway.

I have received three of these in the past year. So far they have always worked and I still received all the benefits associated with my status. The first two times I was not even logged into my account, so the promotional award does not seem to be tied to my credit card nor my Hyatt status.
One stay was at the Park Hyatt and another was for the Andaz. Both times were booked same day as the stay.
I have a pending one for next week at another Park Hyatt. I am trusting that it will work the same as the first two.
I’m still trying to figure out how or why they are offered.
