Running can be so fortuitous- you never know who you’ll see or where you’ll find yourself, especially when you’re not in your usual locale. My friend Gina (who lives in Southern England) and I have always talked about running the London Marathon, but so far, have not been chosen in the ballot. This year, we said let’s go to London anyway!
So we went out for a little jog this morning- we tried to find parks and streets that are not too cobbled or filled with people. And then, it happened.
A group of runners, all in black tee shirts and Nike clothing came running by. No, these were not member’s of Heaven’s Gate – they were Niketown runners doing a shakedown run the day before the London Marathon – joined by none other than Paula Radcliffe!! We jumped in and joined them for the last bit of their run and then they stopped to stretch. We said hi to Paula – took a few photos- and then we were on our way to finish up our own run and check out of our hotel.
