When I attended a Travel Blogger conference ( TBEX) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. It was about a ten minute walk from the hotel across a bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway (more if the bridge was up) to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center where the conference was held.
I used a Diamond Suite Upgrade for this three-night stay, but, to my surprise, I was given the Presidential Suite!
The suite was on the ground floor. There was a full living room and a dining room area, as well as a full bedroom, bathroom and vanity area. There were also two terrace areas.
As the hotel bordered the Intracoastal Waterway, and it was Yacht Week, out almost any window of the suite one could see yacht after yacht after yacht.
My favorite yacht, right outside my living room window, was Octopussy – I even tried to log into their wi-fi. I tried all the passwords I could imagine, such as 007, Shaken Not Stirred, and, of course, Bond, James Bond. Unfortunately, I couldn’t crack the code!
It was phenomenal!
As a Hyatt Diamond, breakfast was included. It was good, but the final day, it was so crowded (with guests leaving for cruises), I was unable to get seated before breakfast ended.
The grounds of the hotel were very nice. Here’s the pool.
I also enjoyed taking a walk around the hotel grounds to see the immense yachts up close.
I really liked the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. An added plus was its location on the Intracoastal Waterway, convenient to the Convention Center and Great Fort Lauderdale area.
