Two weeks ago I stayed at the Hyatt Place NYC/Long Island City. On that visit, I stayed in a standard room on an upper floor (see, Overnight at the New NYC Hyatt Place Hotel in Long Island City). I liked the hotel a lot. I noted that the room was on the compact side, but it was well organized and I did not necessarily feel cramped in it.
Last night, I returned to the hotel. This time, we were given a King Suite. It is considerably larger than the previous room and it has a separate bedroom. The suite had all of the same amenities as the prior room, i.e., refrigerator, sofa bed, desk, coffee machine, safe and plenty of outlets.

Closet, refrigerator, etc.
As an added plus, you can see the 59th Street Bridge from the window of the room (showing just how close the hotel is to Manhattan)!
Since the weather was not cold and icy like it was on our last visit, we explored a little. We walked into two nearby pubs, The Beast Next Door and Dutch Kills, which we liked a lot and will return to. We had dinner at Bia, a Vietnamese restaurant. We can recommend that too.
As much as we enjoyed our first room, we really liked the suite and we hope we will be lucky enough to stay in it when we come back in a few weeks.
