The Moroccan airline, Royal Air Maroc, a member of the One World Alliance, has announced a status match opportunity. You can match to Safar Flyer, Royal Air Maroc’s frequent flyer program, with eligible status from various hotels and airlines.
Why is this something you’d be interested in? Because if you match, you might be eligible for One World benefits when flying on any One World airline such as free bag check, upgrades and lounge access. Or, you may be able to take this status and use it for a status match to yet another airline alliance.
Proviso – the application fee price is steep, so you must assess whether it is a worthwhile opportunity for you or not. The application fees are are USD $150 for Silver, $450 for Gold, $1000 for Platinum Lite, and $1500 for Platinum Standard.
According to Loyalty Status, the last time Royal Air Maroc offered a similar status match, the offer closed in days due to popularity. So jump on this if it works for you.
- Matching major hotel elites -> Safar Flyer Silver (oneworld Ruby)
- Matching most big US/EU airlines -> up to Safar Flyer Gold (One World Sapphire)
- KLM/Air France/Air Canada/Turkish/Lufthansa top tier -> Safar Flyer Platinum (One World Emerald)
Upon matching, Status is valid until June 30, 2024 – and with one Royal Air Maroc flight flown by June 30, 2024, or booking on your account on June 30, 2024 – status is extended until the end of 2024. If you previously matched with Royal Air Maroc, you may match again.
When you click on the offer link, you will need to add a Safar Flyer Membership number. If you aren’t a member of Safar Flyer, there is a link to register (which takes about 30 seconds).
Once you fill in the first page, it will take you a page like this:
You then have a choice to click airline or hotel.
Once you click the particular hotel or airline, you’ll be asked to give your membership number and status information and to upload proof of said membership.
It all looks pretty simple. I already have One World status, so I won’t be applying for this match. Good luck if you apply – let me know your thoughts on this match in the comments and how it went for you if you applied.
