What is the first thing people think of when the city Liverpool in the United Kingdom is mentioned? The Beatles, of course. Liverpool was one of our stops on a trip to Europe this past December. Yes, it is as dreary in December as many folks warned us, but that is neither here nor there at the moment. Did you know that my grandmother took me to a Beatles concert when I was just a little kid? I can’t say I remember much, but that was pretty cool.
We arrived at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport after a short flight from Dublin. Dave isn’t accustomed to flying in small prop planes and he turned about as green as the Aer Lingus clover especially when we landed with a big thump. Of course, it was raining.
Here’s the airport!
The airport has plenty to offer Beatles fans, including a statue of John himself. Oddly, it is kind of hidden on the second floor.
Outside, we couldn’t believe it! We found the Yellow Submarine!
We didn’t do everything relating to the Beatles in Liverpool (such as a visit to the famed Cavern Club), but we did visit the Liverpool Beatles Museum! I highly recommend it, especially if you’re interested in the history of the band and it’s members! Here are some photos.
I really want this dress!
It was amazing to see the vibrant costumes from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band!
Of course, Liverpool is known for more bands than just the Beatles!
A few blocks away, we stopped to say hello to Paul, John, George and Ringo.
It was a nice day! I’ll leave with this question – what are some of your favorite Beatles quotes? This is one of my favorites:
