CNN reported that an American Airlines Boeing 757 flew from Bogotá, Colombia to Miami, Florida on Sunday. The plane was then flown to Tulsa, Oklahoma for maintenance. In the plane’s nose (no pun intended) seven bricks of cocaine – approximately 14 kilos (31 pounds) worth – valued at over $200,000 – were found.
The bricks were covered in wheel grease that appeared to have been applied to the bricks to ward off drug dogs, said Casey Roebuck, communications director for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. (CNN)
CNN further reported that this attempted smuggling of cocaine is believed to be cartel-related and that the matter is now being investigated by the Miami office of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
