Hotel fitness centers run the gamut from great to awful.
Ideally, a hotel gym (or any gym for that matter) should be clean and well-ventilated and have plenty of air, space and light. I love hotel gyms with big windows so I can gaze out at the scenery while I’m working out. I appreciate gyms that have a lot of mirrors. Of course, I like to see a variation of working cardio machines as well as weights, and ample floor space.
I don’t like gyms that are located in basements especially if not properly lit or mirrored or ventilated. This is one of the reasons that I am not typically impressed with most hotel fitness centers in Europe.
The fitness center at the Hyatt Regency/ Hyatt House Manchester, UK is an exception. In fact it is exceptional!!
It is spacious and clean with some really great machines – I’m always so happy when I see a rowing machine and/or a Peloton bike at a hotel gym! I was thrilled with the gym at the Hyatt Manchester!
Here are some photos!
But that’s not all! In the days leading up to my visit, I received correspondences from the hotel Assistant Guest Services Manager, Helen Hama (who I absolutely loved), welcoming me to the hotel and advising me that the hotel has a Run Club which is led by our colleagues who share in your passion for running. She went on to advise me that, although the Run Club wasn’t scheduled to meet during the two days of my stay we have multiple colleagues who would be delighted to join up with you for a run around the local area whilst you are here with us. Ms. Hama also attached a document explaining the Run Club in greater detail. If all that wasn’t enough, when I arrived at the hotel, I received an email from the hotel Sales Manager advising me that We would love to run with you. What time would you like to meet? We can meet you in the hotel lobby.
As it turned out, my stay in Manchester was very short and I was unable to accept the hotel’s invitation to run – but, I was so grateful and impressed with the hotel for their hospitality and exuberance.
