Can great get greater? Wonderful even more wonderful?
Why yes, it can.
The love affair began last year with my first visit to Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa. (see Review). I said I would return and indeed I did. I was greeted warmly at the front desk and given the keys to my room.
My reservation was for four nights. I am a Globalist member and the hotel is a category 7 World of Hyatt hotel. I used points for the stay (25,000 per night) and I applied a suite upgrade award. I obviously expected a suite (and I think that all of the suites at the Hyatt Regency Aruba are lovely), but when I opened the door, I couldn’t believe what I saw. To my amazement, this was the Governor’s Suite! It is 2,745-square-feet, with an enormous living room, bedroom, kitchenette and dining facilities, 2 bathrooms and 3 balconies! The cash rate varies from around $3,000 to $6,000 per night!
Oh my god, this place was huge and gorgeous! Pinch me!
Here’s a video:
Here are some photos – including the many balconies with phenomenal views.
Wowee-zowee! Check out the views from our balconies!
Down below at the pools and beach, it is equally wonderful. We alternated between sitting under palapas on the beach and the adult pool Trankilo. Life is good! Very good!
There was only one small snafu. The description for the Governer’s suite said came with a designated palapa (which was closer to the ocean than the palapa I had pre-booked in advance of my stay). I was given the designated palapa for two days. The third day I was told that the palapa wasn’t an amenity that was included in my stay because I hadn’t actually paid the cash rate for the suite. I was fine with this, but not with the $80 daily charges for the palapa placed on my account (after my inquiry, the hotel removed this charge).
The Regency Club is great – there was breakfast each morning, mid-day snacks and then food and beverages in the early evening. We enjoyed the Regency Club a lot last year – this year it was even better! The selection of prepared foods and salads changes daily and everything is delicious – I especially looked forward to the ceviche made fresh every day. During the evening hours, from 5 to 7, beer and wine was also available. I can’t praise the staff enough. They are so helpful and totally delightful!
There is both indoor and outdoor seating in the Regency Club. Not a bad way to unwind after a long hard day of sunning and swimming.
Say hello to the resident birds, Chichi and Rocky!
I reviewed the fitness center last year (see,Hotel Fitness and Wellbeing: Hyatt Regency Aruba). This isn’t my favorite hotel fitness center (and it definitely needs some Peloton bikes!), but I don’t mind because with such beautiful weather and scenery, I prefer to get my daily exercise by walking outdoors.
If you haven’t guessed, I’ve already made a reservation to return to the hotel next year.
