Grand Hyatt Bali is located in Nusa Dua, Bali. It is a gated district featuring one luxury hotel after another. Some people love Nusa Dua, as a beautiful, pristine escape from the rest of Bali, which admittedly can be somewhat frenetic, but I found Nusa Dua to be too sterile with very little access to real culture. To each his own, right?
Note: I actually stayed at this hotel in April 2024 but I never got around to writing a review. I am writing this review now because people always ask about the various hotels in Bali.
The hotel was built in 1991 and has over 600 rooms, and many pools and gardens. It is currently a category 2 World of Hyatt hotel. It also has a very pretty beach.
As a globalist, I was shown to a separate room to check in. The staff seemed a bit confused and made us wait a while until our room was ready.
The grounds of the hotel are divided into areas such as this.
The first room we were assigned was a ground floor room that was outdated and had badly stained furniture. We complained and were then assigned to the another room on an upper level. This was somewhat better.
The bathroom was also rather dated, but it was clean.
We had a small terrace, with a nice view of the grounds.
We even got the pleasure of a visit by an egret one day!
After two nights in this room, we were told that a suite became available. It was like day and night. This was the Grand Deluxe Suite, a premium suite. It was modern and spacious and beautiful!!
Here’s a video short I created:
Here are a few more photos of this suite – (oh how I loved thee!):
Since I have Globalist status, we had use of the Grand Club. I like the open air design a lot. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful.
For breakfast, you could eat at any of the hotel restaurants. They all had the same buffet with a large selection of items. For evening, there were cocktails and appetizers in the club for two hours. Breakfast was fine and the evening beverages were nice, but we didn’t care for most of the food served in the lounge in the evening. This was disappointing, since the food at the Hyatt Regency in Sanur was outstanding.
We enjoyed the pools at the hotel.
We especially liked this pool which was quiet and pretty.
The fitness center is huge and includes a squash court.
An activity offered by the hotel is a tour of the two Hindu temples on the grounds of the hotel. It was interesting and informative (and fun). They dressed us in traditional sarongs for the tour. I highly recommend this! (note: be sure to check out the signs at the entrances to the temples below).
I highly recommend the Japanese Sake Pairing FIND experience offered at the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. Both the foods and the sakes were delicious and well worth the price. This was definitely a highlight of our stay.
The smiles alone were worth the price!
It was Dave’s birthday and they surprised him with cake and flowers and lots of singing. He was so surprised! It was a great evening.
Earlier that evening, the staff at the Grand Club had also surprised him with a birthday cake! Isn’t this a picture of why we love to travel?
To conclude: Although Nusa Dua isn’t my cup of tea, overall I had a nice stay at the Grand Hyatt Bali. (but I still prefer the Hyatt Regency and the Sanur area of Bali).
