Notwithstanding the election and a number of family emergencies, 2016 was primarily a good year. I traveled to fabulous places and had great times. And, so without further adieu, here are some highlights of my year via Instagram!
It began with the 2016 Midnight Run in Central Park.
Later in January, I went to Nassau in the Bahamas. I soaked up the sun and ran a half marathon in the rain.
Reality of winter set in when I returned – it’s never fun to come home to this:
In February, I met up with my friend Cheryl in California for the Surf City Marathon. I loved Orange County and enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach.
In March, my friend Kevin and I went to North Carolina for the Tobacco Road Marathon in Carey, NC – I’ve grown to love Rail-to-trail races. Of course, I couldn’t say no to a bit of moonshine…
In April, after years of trying and failing to enter the London Marathon via ballot, I decided to just go anyway. My UK friend Gina and I spent four grand days in London – we even met Paula Radcliffe while out running one morning! We spent two nights at the Radisson Blue Edwardian Mercer Street (Covent Garden) and two at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge (where I took the photo below).
In May, we went to Amsterdam. I have a law degree from the University of Amsterdam and some of my friends and I gathered for a reunion! I always feel at home when I visit Amsterdam, and this was no exception. And I finally got to experience the wonderful Andaz Prinsengracht!
In late June – early July, Dave and I had a great time in Madrid, Athens and Mykonos! This is Madrid:
Athens, Greece – love Greek food!
and Mykonos – I’ve been to that crazy island more than 20 times, but haven’t been back in 10 years. I will never tire of the beauty.
In August, we went to Mexico – and stayed at the phenomenal Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen.
Over Labor Day weekend, I went to Hong Kong . . . for a day.
September brought us to Denver for a weekend.
November began with a weekend in Washington, DC (I have no idea what that construction was about):
Later that month, we explored the streets and sights of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and experienced the glory of the Park Hyatt Saigon:
In between all of the above, there were plenty of staycations, family visits on Long Island, and a whole lot of time in my home town, New York City.
And there you have it. Happy New Year! Wishing you a great 2017!
