Every few months, Deepak Chopra offers a free 21-day Meditation Experience. You simply sign up, and then when the program begins, you receive an email each day with a link to listen to that day’s message and mantra. I have enrolled in a few of these meditation classes and I always get something meaningful out of them.
Deepak’s newest 21-Day Meditation Experience, Energize Your Life: Secrets for a Youthful Spirit begins on October 29. In simplest terms, his message is that you can find happiness at any age.
He describes the class like this:
Discovering lifelong happiness lies in how you perceive daily events. Using a unique mind-body-spirit approach, you can learn to access solutions to your problems from deep within you, and live each day with greater vitality. Deepak explains how seeing challenges as opportunities is the key to happiness.

Meditation is a tricky subject. It can be part of a religious practice, a scientifically proven way to take care of your mental health, or it can be a form of new-age quasi-spiritual bullshit. Deepak Chopra is not representative of first two groups.
You wouldn’t fly a plane with a pilot using a unique approach to engine mechanics and aerodynamics, why would one choose to have one’s life to be guided by uniquely untested ideas?

I don’t treat it like religion. I listen to the topics, perhaps better called lessons, while walking or sitting still, and it’s always interesting or entertaining and sometimes thought provoking. I also like transendental meditation – it is totally different than Deepak Chopra – but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t something positive to be gained from this program.
