We recently visited Mexico City. It was our third visit. On our previous visits, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Mexico City which is in the Polanco neighborhood of the city (see, Hotel Review, Hyatt Regency Mexico City). I am thoroughly in love with that hotel, but I also wanted to try out other Hyatt hotels and explore other neighborhoods. So, on this visit, we split our time between the Andaz Mexico City Condesa and the Hyatt Regency Mexico City.
This is my review of the Andaz Mexico City Condesa. (my review of the Hyatt Regency Mexico City, 2025, will be published shortly)
We arrived in Mexico City sometime in the afternoon, having first spent a week in Merida, in Mexico’s Yucatan state (see, Hotel Review Hyatt Regency Merida).
I must say that, on first impression, we weren’t sure what to think of the Andaz. Many Andaz hotels, by their nature are boutique hotels but a bit of a puzzle. They take time to figure out. This was the case here. The hotel property is shared with an entirely separate hotel, so that adds to the confusion. But, despite all this, the staff was beyond amazing. And the decor of the hotel was quirky, but phenomenal. This, my friends, is no cookie cutter hotel. It’s wildly cool.
We were escorted up a fantastic multi-color escalator and shown to the reception area. We were greeted again, by not only the hotel staff but also the General Manager, Analia Capurro, and given a welcome glass of champagne.
We were upgraded to a Terrace Suite. The decor of the suite is playful mid-century, equipped with even a Victrola record player and some vinyl albums (you can switch out the records for other records at the concierge desk).
Oh did I mention, the Mezcal and other thoughtful treats?
Honestly, the hospitality and kindness at the Andaz was through the roof!
What I loved about this suite, like that of many other Andaz hotels I’ve stayed at, is that it looks like the home I wish I lived in.
I really love toiletries by Byredo!
The shower and bath were together in one room. Once we figured out how the shower worked, we loved it.
The mini-bar was stocked, but, as usual, I asked the hotel to remove any items that were for sale.
The terrace was charming, and the weather temperate, so we enjoyed our time sitting there.
On the roof level of the hotel, there is a restaurant/bar, Cabuya. We only had a drink there, but the restaurant is very bright, cheery and upscale all at the same time.
The hotel pool is also on the rooftop. The scenic view from the pool is quite breathtaking, but If you are interested in serious swimming, I’m not sure that this is for you. Despite it’s glamour, it reminded me more of a fish tank than a pool.
The fitness center is shared with the other hotel, so it is a bit confusing to find. The space is well equipped with many state of the art Technogym machines. There is also one Peloton bike.
This is the women’s locker room.
Breakfast was served in the Portico Restaurant on the ground floor. This was my favorite breakfast on this trip. The buffet was endless and included both western and Mexican foods. There was also an omelette bar as well as some incredibly delicious pastries.
Everyone was helpful, but Restaurant Manager, David de Aguinaga Lozano, and the waiter, Hugo, really stood out! (Congratulations to David on his promotion!)
Special thanks to the General Manager of the Andaz Condesa, Analia Capurro. Additional thanks to the concierge team, Elisa, Iredi, Fernando and Arturo.
After two days in Condesa, we did not want to leave. In addition to falling in love with the hotel, we fell in love with Condesa itself. We loved the homes, the parks and the tree-lined streets. More than once, we said that we could imagine living here.
